With every concert I attend there is always a story to tell and there are so many different ways the road trips and shows come together. Some nights are not that memorable, some nights are epic, I never know what I’m in for that that is half of the fun. Yesterday I took a drive up to St. Catherines Ontario to see three bands – The Wild, Drop Top Alibi and Revive The Rose.
This show only came on my radar a few weeks ago when a friend of mine from Toronto posted some live footage of Drop Top Alibi, a local Toronto based band. I saw her post, I really liked their sound and so I decided to check out their music. After listening to their music I checked out their tour schedule and saw that they had a show coming up in St. Catherines which is less than an hour from home. I decided why not make the drive up and check out the show.
At the time I hadn’t heard of the other two bands, Revive The Rose and The Wild, so leading up to the show I made a playlist on Spotify of all three bands and listened to it on my commutes to and from work. Before the day of the show I started really getting into all of the bands. I was really enjoying the playlist that I had made and so I really started to get excited about this show. I’m always down to check out new music and take a chance on a live show even when I’m not a huge fan of the bands because you never know how much you may end up liking a band after you see them live.
The show was at this small venue called Warehouse. Once I got there and got inside there weren’t many people there and I was standing by myself for a while feeling kind of awkward, having no one to talk to. But sometimes that is just how shows go for me, it can be really hard to go to concerts alone all of the time. As the night went on I did end up meeting and talking to a couple of people. The one lady was a huge concert goer like myself and we had some bands in common that we both like to go see. When you like the same bands as someone, its like you are already friends from having that in common. Music is just amazing like that.
The show was a lot of fun as I really enjoyed seeing all of the bands that played. Lately more times than not, the lineups at shows I’ve attended have been pretty solid. It is always so much more enjoyable when you like every single band on the bill. The Wild put on more than just a show, it was a full blown party of dancing and drinking. They were such a good time, I’m looking forward to seeing these guys again.
