I went on a lunch date to Root & Bloom today with my husband and my God the food there is just so amazing that I need to post about them again.
Root & Bloom is the first all vegan cafe in Buffalo, New York. They opened in the the summer of 2018, and in the year that this place has been running, they have improved the food so much. My husband, who hasn’t eaten here in a long time was a little weary of going because although he thought the food was decent last summer when he tried it, it didn’t wow him. To be honest, last summer the food didn’t wow me either.
With all of the traveling that I do, I’ve been spoiled from trying amazing vegan food from all over the U.S and Canada so I am a tough critic. Root & Bloom has really stepped up their game. After eating here today, my husband and I both agreed if this place wasn’t in Buffalo we’d definitely travel to get the food. Last summer we didn’t classify this cafe as road trip worthy, this summer we absolutely think it is road trip worthy!

Here is the deal for me, there isn’t a ton of stuff on the menu that I would like to order as I’m not a breakfast lover or a salad eater (when eating out somewhere I do NOT want a salad). I don’t like ordering burgers out because they aren’t anything that I can’t make at home. Point being there are only a couple things I like to order when I come here, but the things I do order are absolutely amazing.
I highly recommend getting the buffalo wings. They are made out of jackfruit and the breading on them is perfect. I love that they are saucy. Sometimes wings just don’t come with enough sauce. These are saucy and spicy and some of the best vegan wings I’ve ever had.
The mac and cheese is so creamy and delicious. It comes with crispy barbecue tofu and sauteed greens. The mix of flavors with the barbecue sauce and the mac and cheese sauce compliment each other perfectly.
I’m a huge fan of vegan comfort foods and Root & Bloom nails it with these dishes. It’s so nice to have somewhere close to home that I can get an amazing vegan meal from. We will definitely be back!
