South Buffalo has an amazing new spot for vegan Mexican American food. Cantina 62, located on Seneca street, serves many options for vegans and non-vegans alike. Here is what I suggest you try on your next visit there:
- The taco fries with vegan cheese sauce. My God, those fries were absolutely amazing. I’m usually not a huge fry fan as I used to work at Wendy’s and ate their fries all of the time. French fries lost their specialness after that job, but these taco fries have opened my heart again to loving fries. The taco spice on the fries was so addictingly good and the fries were crisp and crunchy but still potatoey in the middle. The vegan queso was unbelievable. So good that my husband had no idea it was vegan. We were talking about the food later at home and when we got to talking about how good the fries were, I was like can you believe that vegan queso it was insane. He just looked at me and was like that was vegan? I had no idea! That my friends is when you know vegan food is being done right.
- The vegan fried burrito bowl. Holy hell it was massive and so delicious! The burrito bowl came loaded with chunks of impossible burger, lettuce, tomato, scallions, vegan queso, vegan sour cream and taco sauce all inside a fried burrito shell bowl. My only regret was that I forgot to add avocado to my meal, but it was so good I didn’t even realize I forgot until later when I was heating up leftovers at home.
The food was fresh, hot and delicious and the portions are very large. The good thing was that I was able to stick the left over burrito bowl into the toaster oven and it came out tasting really good. The shell came back to life after being in the toaster oven. It was still crispy and crunchy. I was really surprised as I wasn’t sure how it would be leftover.
It’s always so exciting to have amazing vegan options so close to home. I will definitely be back.
