Awolnation’s 4th studio album, Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders, was just released last Friday (4/24/20). If you are a fan of Awolnation, I think you would really enjoy this album. It fits in perfectly with the rest of their albums sound-wise. Meaning it has that electronic rock sound with the touch of what makes Awolnation, Awolnation. If you haven’t heard of these guys before, I’d suggest to start with their first album, Megalithic Symphony. You can always find some super catchy songs on their albums. On Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders, I find “The Best”, “Mayday!!! Fiesta Fever” and “Lightning Riders” to be really catchy and just fun to listen to.
Back in 2018, front man Aaron Bruno’s Los Angeles home studio burned down in the Woolsey Fire. This fire and loss was the main source of inspiration behind the writing of Angel Miners & The Lightning Riders. Aaron says it is “kind of a concept album and a good, old-fashioned story of good and evil”. “In this fantasy world, Angel Miners are responsible for the fire and all natural disasters of this world, though man has a big part of that. The Lightning Riders represent the good – natural elements like wood”.
